TC's party was supposed to start at 2, but people did not start drifting in till 4. Once the party got up to a good size (meaning enough people for a croquet game), TC got out the mallets and wickets for a game. The competition was fierce and vicious roqueting was a rule of thumb. we were told we could not protect our balls (pun intended) from being roqueted and we could not hit the opponent's foot with our mallets. Of course, only TC really knew all the rules, so we took it with a grain of salt. Eventually, Dan emerged as the victor with his feet and balls intact, although with a slight dent in his head from when Ting's mallet inexplicably flew out of her hand and landed on his head.

There was still enough time after the game to take a walk along the harbor before we have to leave for tonight's Ratdog show at Palookaville. The beach was a bit chilly as the sun began its descent. The seabirds were out in force, lunching off of fish that were schooling near the mouth of the harbour. Later we spotted a peace sign that someone had traced in the sand. It was appropriate for Santa Cruz. The setting sun reflecting off the ocean seemed the perfect almost-end to a great weekend.
