I have been in charge of the Announcer Committee for the last three
years. We make all the announcements on the loudspeakers throughout the
day. I am also the Master of Ceremony for the Opening and Closing Ceremonies
and responsible for all aspects to deliver them. We had never done a Closing
Cermony for the UC Open, so most of my work centers around getting the
Opening Ceremony
off without a hitch. Since I have had practice for 2 years, this year's
Opening Ceremony was the smoothest yet. I was worried at first that Jason
would not clear the players off the floor fast enough for the demo as my
intro for the demo team only lasts a minute and a half. Jason cleared the
players within a minute! Wow!
I did not compete at the UC Open this year. Instead, I refereed. Being
a referee is almost as exciting as competing and you still have to make
sure the players don't kick you by mistake, so those blocks still come
in handy.
