Friday afternoon and
time for yard work! It's nice to see the explosion of greenery unfolding
each spring.
While doing work I found a baby snake (anyone able to tell me what kind?)
basking in the afternoon sunshine.
One of my yard tasks this afternoon was to trim back the bottlebrush bush
since it has a tendency to get leggy and out-of-control, blocking the view
from my office window. There must have been a hummingbird nest in the bush
or nearby, because I was repeatedly buzzed by a fierce green hummingbird
while trying to get the job done. Eventually I caught him on silicon, but
it probably took about 40 wasted shots just to get the two shown at right.
Come sunset and I was treated to another gorgeous one, followed by the dance
of the moon and planets in the early evening sky. Ting was at the the RSF
helping with the setup for the UC Open, so she missed the sunset and the
moon/planet dance.
